These were scraggly wisps of seed this Spring.
I had a huge impact in their short lives. I planted them.
Now, they sit on my windowsill giving me cheer. They are so grateful I let them out of the package.
I also have this photograph on my windowsill. That is our farm and the family who lived here in the
early 1900’s. The young girl with the pigtails was an inspiration to me. Born right here in the back bedroom,
she settled in and stayed for 96 years.

As a young girl, I liked to stop by and visit her. She always had a jar of the best oatmeal cookies. I admit
that was what lured me, but it was her wisdom that I took with me and savor to this day.
Now, I am here raising my boys on her beautiful farm. I feel her spirit, often, and it is good. Some of what
I teach my boys, came from her.
I wonder what she would have thought if she had known that little girl would
grow up to live in her house and look at her photograph on the windowsill
each day with appreciation?
We study history, researching our roots, but I wonder will I ever be a photograph on someone’s windowsill? I hope I can live tomorrow as if I will.
Have
a great
weekend
everyone,
and
thanks
for
visiting
Peacock
Prairie.
