Freaky Friday

October 31, 2014

I’m freaked out. There is a strange man, in an orange hat,
down by the road. I’m not sure what he is up to, but I’m
pretty sure it isn’t good.

My elderly neighbor called to warn me about him. He has been there all morning.
She tried to talk to him, but he just ignored her- how rude. I told her I would check
him out.

Don’t worry, I have my tripod to protect me.

Wait a minute- I know him; it’s Farmer Tom’s friend, Mort.

Farmer Tom is a jokester. Every year, Mort appears, with widespread arms, a few weeks
before halloween.  Then on Halloween Eve, Farmer Tom climbs into Mort’s clothes, drapes
the cheesecloth over his head, and stands with widespread arms waiting for unsuspecting

The absolute best was when, from under the cheesecloth, he heard a group of teenage boys approaching.

“Hey dudes, look at that thing. It looks real.”

“Nah, that’s been there for weeks.” Dismissing him as harmless, they continued on towards the treasured candy.

Holding in his chuckle, Farmer Tom waited till those big boys were within arms reach. Then with a great
growling noise, he swung his arms forward.

They tore away at lightning speed, completely forgetting about their candy, and he heard them say, as they
ran out of sight, “That was awesome!!”
