My toes are toasty warm. This is unusual in winter.
Could it be a sign of spring?
Nope, it’s still full blown winter here with the temperature at zero or below most mornings.
Well then, you wonder, what’s up with my toes?
This little butterball sits on them as I type. She takes care of me with a sweetness that has melted my heart.
I wish you all could experience her good morning greeting. She leaps and whimpers out of her mind with excitement.
It’s a great way to start the day.
Ten below zero? It doesn’t phase her. She dashes out at high speed full of enthusiasm.
I can dash.
In fact, I often dash after photographs.
Your welcome.
In the next few weeks, I will do a lot of dashing as I see the birds return for spring, and I race out to
hear their long awaited song. But I guarantee, I will never dash for ten below zero as she does.
Born in December, winter is all she knows. Her only experience with dirt is the little bit she has
discovered in the flower boxes. I feel like a parent at Christmas waiting for spring to roll in so
she can discover a new and exciting world under all of the white.
Although there is much evidence of winter, spring is starting to creep in. The daylight is
longer, the sky seems a deeper shade of blue, the winter birds are singing louder in the
morning, and I saw a one inch daffodil poking through the snow. I love searching for the
subtle changes that sneak in and gradually change one season to the next.
There are
still no
peacocks
on the
prairie,
so I end
with this.
Beautiful, Julie. You have a mighty way with pictures and words. -Susan
