A solitary soul
beneath a lonely hat
departed on a stroll
for varied habitat.
She trudged along a trail
until she snagged a thorn
then sank to weep and wail
the heartache of the morn’.
Exhausted from her gloom,
she struggled to her feet
and left the dreary doom,
resigned to bleak defeat.
The trail traversed a bend
and headed up a hill
and lo’ behold a friend,
the golden daffodil!
Atop the grassy hill,
she spied a thousand more.
She tingled with the thrill
of splashy suns galore.
The cheery orbs aglow
in frilly frocks of gold
soon chased away her woe
as blissful joy unrolled!
Hello Peacock Prairie friends!
I’ve missed you. Now that I am off work and home isolating from the world, the creative bug has bit. A lot has happened since my last post. My nut brown hair is now white, and I photograph with bifocals. But there’s even bigger news than that: I am an author! Little Dandelion, my debut picture book, is in the works, and it’s going to be beautiful. Watch for it next spring published by the highly regarded Sleeping Bear Press. I couldn’t be more thrilled.
But wait, there’s even bigger news than that, I have an agent!! I am now represented by the talented Victoria Selvaggio from Storm Literary Agency. What’s it like? Like the best dream ever. This monumental task was achieved after excruciating perseverance and stubborn, but sometimes shaky, belief–breaking into the writing world is not for the faint of heart. Some of you original followers remember my first stunted posts from way back when I first started writing, where I struggled with commas and basic sentence structure (still do), I want you to know how much I appreciate your support and encouragement because without you, success would not have come.
These are challenging times for all of us, but the good is still here. Everyday. Everywhere. That’s what I hope to capture with this next series of photographs and posts.
Blessings to you all,
Julia Richardson

I like the dog. You should make a post about the dog. With lots of beautiful pictures of the dog too.

Julie, I had saved this post to read during a quiet moment. When I read it this morning with my coffee, I was so blessed. Your words and your photographs are a blessing to me this morning, and the fact that your published book is coming, too, is an even greater gift! I cannot wait to read your book and buy it as gifts. Thank you!
